From Lawyer to Artist: Discovering the Healing Power of Art
Turning a personal journey of recovery into a lifelong creative passion.
After a long and successful career as a lawyer, Raffaella Soffiantini found herself facing an unexpected turning point. During her recovery from illness in hospital, she began drawing and painting. What started as a way to help her through a difficult time soon became a moment of discovery, opening the door to a new life dedicated to art.
From drawings and paintings to sculpture, Raffaella has since developed a rich and varied body of work. Passionate about the healing power of art, she also wanted to share her experience and ideas with a wider audience.
My role was to help her tell her story, develop articles exploring the connection between art and healing, and create a website that serves as a personal online catalogue bringing her extensive collection together in one place, ready to share at exhibitions, talks and other events.
The challenge
Project at a glance
The brief: Help an emerging artist share her work, communicate her story and build a stronger presence in the art world.
My contribution: Website creation, organisation and presentation of her artwork, social media content, and writing articles exploring the relationship between art and healing.
The creative vision: Create a website that works as a portable art catalogue, making it easy to browse and present her work whenever an opportunity arises, from private meetings to exhibitions and talks.
Beyond the artwork: Through articles exploring the healing power of art, I helped Raffaella share her knowledge, develop her voice and establish herself as a thoughtful contributor to the conversation around art and wellbeing.
